National Skilled Trade and Technology Week

November 3 - 9, 2024

 

National Skilled Trade and Technology Week is dedicated to helping people learn all about the exciting careers opportunities in the skilled trades and technologies with the goal to demonstrate that these careers are a viable first choice career option.

To celebrate, Skills Ontario's program department will be hosting a variety of virtual activities during the week. Be sure to check it out, there is something for students, educators, and the whole family!

Skills Ontario Presentations

The Presentations Department will be hosting a presentation to teach students about skilled trade and technology careers, and the pathways to get there.

When: November 6th, 2024

Time: 10:00 AM (EST)

Who: This activity is geared towards students in Grades 7 & 8, but all are welcomed.

Skills Ontario Presentations - Parents & Guardians

The Presentations Department will be hosting a presentation for parents/guardians to learn more about skilled trades, the education needed for these careers, and some of the benefits of pursuing a career in this field.

When: November 6th, 2024

Time: 1:00 PM (EST)

Who: This activity is geared towards anyone that has a child interested in learning about future careers possibilities.

Skills Ontario FNMI Presentation

The First Nations, Métis & Inuit (FNMI) Initiatives will be hosting a presentation for students all about skilled trade and technology careers, and the pathways to get there.

When: November 5th, 2024

Time: 10:45 AM (EST)

Who: This activity is geared toward students that identify as FNMI in grade 7-12 but all are welcome.

Skills Ontario Junk Drawer Races

Junk Drawer Races is a fun and engaging virtual contest series to develop new skills and learn about opportunities in the skilled trades and technologies. The program directly ties to grade level curriculum.

 

When: Submissions for Regional Competitions-Due December 13th, 2024

Time: by 11:59 PM (EST)

Who: This activity is geared towards K-12 students.

Skills Ontario NEW By the Fire series

This virtual series will feature eight weekly installations that will showcase a variety of spotlight trade and tech careers and guest speakers!

When: November 6th-December 11th, 2024

Time: 10:30-11:30AM (EST)

Who: Students will listen to conversations about the skilled trades and technologies through the passing down of traditional knowledge, storytelling, and connection.
